When they treat you like an unlimited buffet.

"I can definitely take that on. Since it's outside our original scope of [X hours/deliverables], this would add approx [Y hours] to the invoice. Do you want to proceed with that, or should we swap out a lower-priority task to keep the budget neutral?"

1. Define the Work UpfrontBe specific about what you will and won't do. Write it down.
2. Set Communication Hours"I respond M-F, 9am-5pm." Stick to it, or they won't.
3. Clarify Revision Limits"2 rounds included." Otherwise, you'll be tweaking colors forever.
